Its cultivation on the small island of the Saronic Gulf began in the 1860s and since then it has slowly begun to conquer the world. It stands out thanks to its high vitamin B5 content, which helps regulate sugar and triglycerides.

A PDO product is also the pistachio of Megara, which is also among the superfoods worldwide thanks to its abundance of beneficial ingredients. Apart from raw, as a snack, peanuts are ideal for recipes with sweets, but also as a topping for yoghurt or oatmeal for breakfast.

Greek walnuts and almonds, known for their rich taste, contain a variety of nutrients, proteins, vitamins, minerals and natural fibres that contribute to the proper functioning of the body. In Greece, 35-30% of almonds are produced in Thessaly, specifically in the prefectures of Larissa and Magnesia, 25-35% in Macedonia, in the prefecture of Serres and Kavala, and the remaining percentage is grown scattered throughout Greece. Walnuts, on the other hand, are grown in areas such as Ilia, Elassona and Aridaia in Pella, with harvesting usually taking place at the end of September. This nut is a rich source of natural antioxidant substances such as melatonin, vitamin E, carotenoids and polyphenols. Historically, both products have been associated with Greek tradition and are used in both pastry and cooking, adding flavour and originality.
