Yunanistan&#8217;\u0131n prehistorik yerle\u015fim yerlerinde k\u00f6m\u00fcrle\u015fmi\u015f susam tohumlar\u0131 bulunmam\u0131\u015f olsa da, yabanc\u0131 k\u00f6kenli \u2018sa-sa-ma\u2019 kelimesi, Miken d\u00f6nemine (yakla\u015f\u0131k M.\u00f6. 1400-1200) ait Linear B yaz\u0131tlar\u0131nda ge\u00e7mektedir. Hitit dilinden gelen kelime, susam\u0131n Ege Denizi&#8217;ni a\u015f\u0131p deniz yollar\u0131 \u00fczerinden Miken saraylar\u0131na ula\u015fana kadar izledi\u011fi yola i\u015faret eder. Do\u011fuda, tohumlar\u0131ndan elde edilen ya\u011f\u0131 i\u00e7in yeti\u015ftirilmi\u015f olmas\u0131 bizi \u015fa\u015f\u0131rtmamal\u0131d\u0131r, \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc Mezopotamya&#8217;da zeytin a\u011fac\u0131 yeti\u015fmiyordu. Antik Yunan metinleri, bu bitkinin Yunanistan&#8217;a ula\u015fmas\u0131ndan sonra lezzetli ve besleyici tohumlar\u0131 nedeniyle ne kadar sevildi\u011fini g\u00f6stermektedir.<br><br>Ya\u011f a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan zengin ve kolay alev ald\u0131klar\u0131 i\u00e7in arkeolojik kal\u0131nt\u0131larda korunmalar\u0131 zor olsa da, M.\u00f6. 4. y\u00fczy\u0131lda Kuzey Yunanistan&#8217;\u0131n Halkidiki b\u00f6lgesindeki Antik Olynthos kentinde bulunanlar gibi tarihi d\u00f6nemlere ait arkeolojik kal\u0131nt\u0131larda susam tohumlar\u0131na rastlanmaktad\u0131r. Kaz\u0131lardan elde edilen s\u0131n\u0131rl\u0131 materyallerin aksine, eski metinlerde susam\u0131n \u00e7e\u015fitli tariflerde kullan\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131na dair bir\u00e7ok bilgi bulunmaktad\u0131r, bu da susam\u0131n ne kadar sevilen bir malzeme oldu\u011funu g\u00f6sterir.<br><br>\u015eair Alkman, Solon ve Stisihoros (M.\u00f6. 7.-6. y\u00fczy\u0131l) susamdan bahsederler ve o d\u00f6nemden itibaren susam eski metinlerde s\u0131k\u00e7a kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za \u00e7\u0131kar. Theofrastos (M.\u00f6. 4. y\u00fczy\u0131l) <em>Bitkilerin Tarihi \u00dczerine<\/em> adl\u0131 eserinde susam\u0131 yazl\u0131k mahsuller aras\u0131nda s\u0131n\u0131fland\u0131r\u0131r ve farkl\u0131 \u00e7e\u015fitlerini, hatta tatl\u0131 taneli olan\u0131ndan bahseder. Yaz\u0131tlarda ve papir\u00fcslerde, susam satan ki\u015finin mesle\u011fini, susam yeti\u015ftirilen b\u00f6lgeyi veya susamla ilgili hesaplar\u0131, susam ekilen b\u00f6lgeler ve susam\u0131 verimli olan b\u00f6lgeleri tan\u0131mlamak i\u00e7in susam kelimesiyle olu\u015fturulmu\u015f kelimeler kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za \u00e7\u0131kar. Stisihoros, bir dizesinde bahsetti\u011fi susaml\u0131 bir tatl\u0131 i\u00e7in Dorca<em> sasamis<\/em> kelimesini, Attika leh\u00e7esinde ise <em>sisamis<\/em> kelimesini kullan\u0131r. Bu kelime antik \u015fiirde \u00e7ok s\u0131k ge\u00e7er ve Aristofanes&#8217;in Bar\u0131\u015f adl\u0131 eserinde de s\u0131k\u00e7a rastlad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z <em>sisami <\/em>kelimesiyle ayn\u0131d\u0131r. Aristofanes&#8217;in Thesmophoriazusae adl\u0131 eseri gibi antik \u00e7a\u011f eserlerinde rastlad\u0131\u011f\u0131m\u0131z bir ba\u015fka tatl\u0131 da <em>sisamus\u2018<\/em>tur. <em>Melipikton<\/em> susam ve balla yap\u0131lan ve <em>kopti sisamis<\/em> de \u00f6\u011f\u00fct\u00fclm\u00fc\u015f susamla yap\u0131lan tatl\u0131lar\u0131 ifade eder. Bu tatl\u0131lar muhtemelen g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz\u00fcn susam helvas\u0131 veya susaml\u0131 Noel burmalar\u0131na benziyordu. Filoksenos (M.\u00f6. 5. &#8211; 4. y\u00fczy\u0131l) eserlerinde susam\u0131n ball\u0131 tatl\u0131larda kullan\u0131lmas\u0131 i\u00e7in kavrulmas\u0131 ve susam ve peynirli tiganites tatl\u0131lar\u0131na at\u0131fta bulunmu\u015ftur.<br><br>Susam, g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcz Yunanistan&#8217;\u0131nda da bir\u00e7ok tarifin, \u00f6zellikle susam helvas\u0131, samusas ve susaml\u0131 burma gibi tatl\u0131lar\u0131n \u00f6nemli bir bile\u015feni olmaya devam etmektedir. Ayr\u0131ca Girit&#8217;in kserotigana tatl\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n \u00fczerine serpildi\u011fi gibi, baz\u0131 b\u00f6lgelerde d\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnlere \u00f6zg\u00fc tatl\u0131lar\u0131n da temel bir
