Deux de ses sites, la zone humide des marais salants de Naxos et la r\u00e9gion montagneuse centrale \u2013 zone c\u00f4ti\u00e8re sud, sont class\u00e9s comme habitats prot\u00e9g\u00e9s du r\u00e9seau europ\u00e9en Natura 2000. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les plages de Naxos font partie de ses atouts uniques. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur vaste \u00e9tendue, elles offrent une grande diversit\u00e9 qui satisfait tous les go\u00fbts&nbsp;: au sud, des plages de sable infini aux eaux cristallines, au nord, un littoral plus sauvage aux gros galets caract\u00e9ristiques. Cette diversit\u00e9 permet aux visiteurs de jouir de plages de tranquillit\u00e9, m\u00eame en pleine saison estivale, en d\u00e9nichant des coins isol\u00e9s pour se baigner en toute s\u00e9r\u00e9nit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais Naxos ne se r\u00e9sume pas \u00e0 ses plages. L\u2019\u00eele est \u00e9galement dot\u00e9e d\u2019imposants massifs montagneux, dont le plus haut sommet des Cyclades, le mont Zas, qui culmine \u00e0 1&nbsp;004 m\u00e8tres d\u2019altitude. Son nom provient du dieu Zeus, qui, selon la mythologie, aurait grandi sur cette \u00eele. Outre Zeus, deux autres divinit\u00e9s sont associ\u00e9es \u00e0 Naxos. Dionysos, en particulier, est li\u00e9 \u00e0 la renomm\u00e9e des vignobles de l\u2019\u00eele , qui lui doivent leur r\u00e9putation s\u00e9culaire. Mais aussi Apollon, dont le nom vient imm\u00e9diatement \u00e0 l\u2019esprit d\u00e8s l\u2019arriv\u00e9e au port, face \u00e0 l\u2019embl\u00e9matique Portara. Cette majestueuse porte en marbre, \u00e9rig\u00e9e sur l\u2019\u00eelot de Palatia, constituait l\u2019entr\u00e9e d\u2019un temple d\u00e9di\u00e9 au dieu. La Portara est l\u2019un des sites les plus pris\u00e9s des visiteurs tout au long de la journ\u00e9e, mais c\u2019est surtout au coucher du soleil qu\u2019elle offre le spectacle le plus fascinant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir travers\u00e9 le port et admir\u00e9 la Portara, le voyageur arrive \u00e0 Chora, la capitale de Naxos. En fl\u00e2nant dans ses ruelles, il d\u00e9couvre l\u2019authenticit\u00e9 de l\u2019architecture cycladique, tandis que le Kastro, la forteresse, t\u00e9moin du pass\u00e9 v\u00e9nitien de l\u2019\u00eele, rappelle son histoire s\u00e9culaire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naxos est r\u00e9put\u00e9e, \u00e0 juste titre, pour ses villages pittoresques, chacun ayant son propre caract\u00e8re et contribuant \u00e0 l\u2019identit\u00e9 unique de l\u2019\u00eele. D\u2019Apiranthos, village empreint d\u2019histoire et de culture aux influences cr\u00e9toises, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gant village de Chalk\u00ed, ancienne capitale commerciale de l\u2019\u00eele, tous offrent une authenticit\u00e9 rare, une beaut\u00e9 singuli\u00e8re et un charme ind\u00e9niable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gastronomie<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naxos fait sans aucun doute partie des destinations gastronomiques les plus importantes de Gr\u00e8ce. L\u2019autosuffisance, caract\u00e9ristique cl\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00eele, place les produits locaux et la cuisine traditionnelle au c\u0153ur de son identit\u00e9 culinaire. Il est important de noter que la production de l\u00e9gumes et, plus largement, de produits agricoles \u00e0 Naxos, est la plus importante des Cyclades. En remontant le temps, on peut identifier sur l\u2019\u00eele trois types de cuisines&nbsp;: celle des villages c\u00f4tiers, o\u00f9 les poissons et fruits de mer occupent une place centrale; celle des plaines, qui mettent en vedette les fruits et l\u00e9gumes&nbsp;; et enfin, celle des montagnes, o\u00f9 les viandes et les plats plus gras font partie int\u00e9grante de l\u2019alimentation quotidienne des habitants. Cette image se refl\u00e8te \u00e9galement dans les tavernes, o\u00f9 la viande est tient g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement le r\u00f4le principal dans les villages montagneux ou de l\u2019int\u00e9rieur, tandis que le poisson et les fruits de mer dominent dans celles des villages c\u00f4tiers comme Moutsouna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, les fromages de Naxos ont acquis une place importante sur la carte gastronomique mondiale, avec en t\u00eate la graviera, au go\u00fbt de beurre caract\u00e9ristique. La pomme de terre de Naxos est r\u00e9put\u00e9e comme l\u2019une des plus savoureuses au monde, aucun visiteur ne serait d\u2019ailleurs pr\u00eat \u00e0 contredire cette r\u00e9putation. Enfin, l\u2019exploitation du c\u00e9drat, agrume utilis\u00e9 pour la production de liqueur, b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d\u2019une longue tradition sur l\u2019\u00eele. Et voici seulement trois exemples \u2013 qui ont bien s\u00fbr acquis une immense renomm\u00e9e \u2013 d\u2019une vaste palette d\u2019options, qui ne pourront manquer de satisfaire tous les go\u00fbts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans les tavernes, les caf\u00e9s et les restaurants de l\u2019\u00eele, on savoure les recettes traditionnelles de l\u2019\u00eele de \u00abgrand-m\u00e8re\u00bb, comme le r\u00f4ti d\u2019Apiranthos (porc \u00e0 l\u2019ail accompagn\u00e9 de grosses p\u00e2tes), le lapin au citron cuit en cocotte, le coq au vin, ainsi que les <em>gardoumia<\/em>, une sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 copieuse \u00e0 base d\u2019entrailles d\u2019agneau, toujours pr\u00e9par\u00e9e avec des produits locaux, accompagn\u00e9e de raki local. \u00c0 Naxos, vous pourrez \u00e9galement d\u00e9guster des viandes de premier choix, car l\u2019\u00eele \u00e9l\u00e8ve des bovins.
