Il n\u2019y a pas si longtemps, elle \u00e9tait encore totalement m\u00e9connue, et bien que cela ne soit plus le cas aujourd\u2019hui, elle conserve une beaut\u00e9 intacte et pr\u00e9serv\u00e9e. C\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs ce qui la rend si pris\u00e9e aupr\u00e8s des amateurs de lieux propices \u00e0 la qui\u00e9tude.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Selon la mythologie, son nom viendrait d\u2019H\u00e9racl\u00e8s, qui serait pass\u00e9 par l\u2019\u00eele au cours de ses exploits. Par ailleurs, plusieurs de ses paysages sont souvent associ\u00e9s \u00e0 la grotte du g\u00e9ant Polyph\u00e8me, qu\u2019Ulysse r\u00e9duisit \u00e0 la c\u00e9cit\u00e9 lors de son \u00e9pop\u00e9e de Troie \u00e0 Ithaque.<\/p>\n\n<p>La capitale de l\u2019\u00eele s\u2019appelle Panagia ou Chora et s\u00e9duit par sa beaut\u00e9 cycladique, et le deuxi\u00e8me village de l\u2019\u00eele, Agios Georgios, abrite le port. La nature sauvage de l\u2019\u00eele, ses paysages rocheux et ses eaux \u00e9meraude remettent en lumi\u00e8re la beaut\u00e9 authentique de la mer \u00c9g\u00e9e. <\/p>\n\n<p>Le site le plus remarquable d\u2019Iraklia est la spectaculaire grotte d\u2019Agios Ioannis, la plus grande des Cyclades, dont les paysages environnants sont associ\u00e9s au mythique Polyph\u00e8me. L\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la grotte n\u2019est pas ais\u00e9, mais la visite en vaut la peine, tant l\u2019exp\u00e9rience est unique. <\/p>\n\n<p>Le plus grand atout d\u2019Iraklia, ce sont ses plages. Des eaux cristallines d\u2019un bleu profond et des paysages d\u2019une beaut\u00e9 incomparable, peu fr\u00e9quent\u00e9s, s\u2019offrent g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement au visiteur, m\u00eame en haute saison. La plage la plus connue est Livadi, facilement accessible, avec son sable dor\u00e9 et ses eaux \u00e9meraude peu profondes. Parmi les autres plages figurent Agios Georgios, Tourkopigado, Alimia et Ammoudi tou Mericha.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Gastronomie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>La sobri\u00e9t\u00e9, alli\u00e9e aux pr\u00e9cieux fruits d\u2019une nature b\u00e9nie, offre aux visiteurs des Petites Cyclades une exp\u00e9rience gastronomique authentique et r\u00e9solument insulaire. \u00c0 Iraklia, les produits locaux sont d\u2019une qualit\u00e9 exceptionnelle et occupent le devant de la sc\u00e8ne, sublim\u00e9s avec simplicit\u00e9 et passion. Tout ce que vous d\u00e9gusterez ici se suffit \u00e0 lui-m\u00eame, et la technicit\u00e9 des pr\u00e9parations culinaires s\u2019efface devant la splendeur des saveurs brutes et authentiques.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre miel d\u2019Iralia est d\u2019une qualit\u00e9 exceptionnelle, reconnu pour ses ar\u00f4mes et sa saveur unique. Les fromages locaux sont fabriqu\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re artisanale, exclusivement \u00e0 partir du lait des ch\u00e8vres et brebis des habitants. Les fonds marins offrent aux p\u00eacheurs de v\u00e9ritables tr\u00e9sors, des poissons savoureux qui r\u00e9galent les amateurs de produits de la mer. Bien que rares, les viandes sont d\u2019une qualit\u00e9 remarquable, tandis que les potagers des habitants fournissent des fruits et l\u00e9gumes de qualit\u00e9, rappelant des saveurs oubli\u00e9es et authentiques.<\/p>\n\n<p>Parmi les sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9s locales, on retrouve la fava (pur\u00e9e de pois cass\u00e9s jaunes), les petits feuillet\u00e9s \u00e0 la myzithra et le pain de campagne fra\u00eechement cuit au four.
