P\u00e4\u00e4asialliset kolesterolityypit ovat HDL (tiheydelt\u00e4\u00e4n korkea plasman lipoproteiini) eli nk. hyv\u00e4 kolesteroli, ja LDL (tiheydelt\u00e4\u00e4n alhainen plasman lipoproteiini), eli nk. huono kolesteroli, joka on suurin huolenaihe. Suuremmat LDL-tasot vaikuttavat valtimoiden rasvakertymiin (ateroskleroosi), jotka puolestaan lis\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t syd\u00e4nsairauksien riski\u00e4. Siksi LDL-kolesterolin pit\u00e4isi olla tavoitetasolla veress\u00e4, jotta syd\u00e4n- ja verisuoniriski ei kasva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Veren kolesterolitasoon vaikuttaviin tekij\u00f6ihin<\/strong> voidaan osaksi vaikuttaa (esim. huono ruokavalio, ylipaino, liikunnan puute, tupakointi, voimakas stressi) ja osaksi ei (esim. ik\u00e4, sukupuoli, perim\u00e4, muiden sairauksien yhteisvaikutus). Tutkimustulosten mukaan kolesterolin hallinnan keskeinen tekij\u00e4 on ruokavalio. Juuri <strong>ruokavalio on merkitt\u00e4vin syd\u00e4n- ja verisuonitautien riskitekij\u00e4, johon voit itse vaikuttaa<\/strong>. Se vaikuttaa veren kolesterolin lis\u00e4ksi my\u00f6s useiden sairauksien, kuten korkean verenpaineen, liikalihavuuden ja tyypin 2 diabeteksen, riskiin.
