Heutzutage befolgen jedoch viele Gl\u00e4ubige eher allgemeine und weniger strenge Regeln hinsichtlich des Fastens \u2013 und insbesondere hinsichtlich der Zeiten, zu denen gefastet wird. Viele verzichten dabei auf Fleisch, Eier sowie alle Arten von Milchprodukten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aus ern\u00e4hrungsphysiologischer Sicht zeichnet sich die mit dem Fasten verbundene Ern\u00e4hrung durch wenig ges\u00e4ttigte Fette sowie viele Ballaststoffe, Vitamine, Mineralstoffe und Spurenelemente aus. An manchen Tagen ist der Verzehr von Fisch und Meeresfr\u00fcchten erlaubt, w\u00e4hrend an anderen Tagen eine strikte vegetarische Kost eingehalten wird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Fasten kann also durchaus als Teil einer gesunden Ern\u00e4hrung angesehen werden, und viele Studien belegen die positiven Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dank des geringen Verzehrs von tierischen Fetten und Fleisch bewirkt das Fasten eine Verbesserung des Gesamtcholesterinspiegels sowie des \u201eschlechten\u201c LDL-Cholesterins. Obst, Gem\u00fcse, H\u00fclsenfr\u00fcchte und Getreide werden hingegen in gr\u00f6\u00dferen Mengen und h\u00e4ufiger verzehrt \u2013 und diese sind reich an Kalium, das zur Senkung des Blutdrucks beitr\u00e4gt: ein weiterer Vorteil des Fastens. Menschen, die fasten, haben zudem deutlich weniger oxidativen Stress; dabei handelt es sich um ein Ungleichgewicht im K\u00f6rper, das als Ursache f\u00fcr viele Beschwerden und Krankheiten gilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch wenn beim Fasten nur wenig Eiwei\u00df und Kalzium aufgenommen werden, sind der Verzehr von Fisch und Sojamilch in Kombination mit N\u00fcssen und H\u00fclsenfr\u00fcchten ausreichend, wenn sie mit den anderen Lebensmittelgruppen kombiniert und in ihrer Menge kontrolliert werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die mediterrane Ern\u00e4hrung, die zu den ges\u00fcndesten Ern\u00e4hrungsformen z\u00e4hlt, hat dieselbe Grundlage wie das Fasten: Beide sehen einen minimalen Verzehr von Fleisch und dessen Ersatz durch Fisch, viel Obst und Gem\u00fcse sowie Oliven\u00f6l als Hauptfettquelle vor.
